Nautilus-Actions 3.2.2 is out!

We are pleased, happy and proud to announce the latest stable release of Nautilus-Actions!

What is it ?

Nautilus-Actions is a Nautilus extension whose principal function is to allow the user to add arbitrary actions to the file manager context menus. These actions may be organized in menus and submenus, exported and shared with other desktop environments.

What is new in this release ?

Nautilus-Actions 3.2.2 mainly fixes a weird bug in the NACT user interface.

Nautilus-Actions 3.2.2 may be built and has been thoroughly tested both against Gtk+ 2.0 (Ubuntu 10, Fedora 14) and Gtk+ 3.0 (Ubuntu 11, Fedora 16).

Nautilus-Actions 3.2.0 is out!

Nautilus-Actions 3.2.0 fixes a lot of Gtk+ 3 regressions while keeping a full backward compatibility with Gtk+ 2. Also plugins interface has changed, thus the version number bump.

GSettings migration

What is GSettings and why do I must migrate to ?

GSettings is the new standard/library/protocol Gnome uses to store application preferences. It has been first released with Glib 2.26, available e.g. with Fedora 14.

As a consequence, GConf, which used to be the historical standard/library/protocol for storing application preferences, will be sooner or later, and, I am afraid, rather sooner than later, deprecated.

As a Nautilus extension, Nautilus-Actions is heavily based on Gnome standards, and must follow the evolution of its libraries, in order to be able to provide its users a full Gnome experience.

This is a bugfix of previous 2.99.4.

Do not try to build nautilus menu when no info is available.

Note that due to the renaming of some parameters, actions or menus created / updated with this version may not be usable with 2.30.x serie and previous.

What is new in this release ?

This release includes some enhancements on NACT user's manual, but this is rather a bug fixes.

Fix writing of locales to .desktop files.
No more consider profile name as mandatory.
Allow the writing of empty data.
Let the UI immediately reacts when the status of an I/O provider changes.
Data for a read-only item is no more modifiable.
Fix XML import of localized vs. unlocalized old data.
Fix 'parent is not an action' error on XML import.
Fix sensitivy of startup fields vs. execution mode.
Fix incorrect handling of list conditions.

This is the first one of the future 3.0 serie.

What is new in this release ?

This release includes major enhancements.

It implements the .desktop file specifications as described at http://www.nautilus-actions.org/?q=node/377; this new storage format is shareable with most common willing-to desktop environments (KDE, XFCE, etc.)
